It’s been claimed that Spurs have been tracking Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris throughout the summer but with the sale of Luka Modric, the chase could be nearing its end. The French club are the ones to suggest that a transfer could be imminent.

“The sale of Modric from Tottenham to Madrid is important, as is the amount of the transfer,” said Lyon’s Chairman Jean-Michel Aulas.

“It’s true that on Sunday we had a lot of contact with Daniel Levy. Things progressed during these talks, both qualitatively and quantitatively, but nothing’s concrete yet.

“I’ve informed Hugo of these discussions. We’ll have to be a bit patient to find out.

“The decision belongs to Hugo who, I think, will be approached by Tottenham very soon. The clubs’ positions have moved closer together.”

The fee quoted is in the region of £15m and many are claiming that all had been agreed and that the only thing that remains is a decision from the player as to whether he will cross the channel.

It seems that AVB has made his mind up on Brad Friedel but if Lloris stays where he is, do Spurs have enough time to line up any alternatives?

    • graig gordon are you serious sunderland let him go on a free and no one picked him up, for the simple reason he is shit – honestly mate just a well you have nothing to do with tottenhams transfers that all i say

  1. Lloris would be a good buy, whoever said Craig Gordon is MENTAL!! There is a very good reason for Sunderland letting him go, good players do not get released on free’s

  2. Would be a great signing if we close it. Class keeper with many miles left on the club. Potential bargain.
    Would like to see maybe 2-3 more in addition. Happy with 2, delighted with three. I think Willian is a bit too expensive, would rather we spent that much on Remy, who plays the wings too, but scored 20 goals last season for Marseille, vs Willians 19 in 129 appearances…! playing the wings with a strikers positional sense is definitely what we need when playing one striker, if Lennon had that on Saturday he could have bagged a brace from a couple of Bales Crosses.
    Questioning M’Villa, class act no doubt, but we do have Parker/Sandro/Livermore. Moutinho is too expensive, but I like the look of Doumbele – he can work his way out of a tight spot which we needed on Saturday trying to hold a lead. No questioning his passing either. Not heard much of Malaga’s Isco either.
    Remy and Doumbele would make me happy and would set us up well till January where I would probably leave any extra money left in the kitty till then once AVB is settled and knows what he needs and scouts appropriately. January incomings may be expensive, but can have a great impact

  3. In all honesty a great signing if he comes and as mentioned a long term replacement for the next 10yrs possibly. I would prefer to spend the money elsewhere though and get him next season. For me we still need another top draw striker Llorente for me then Dembele for Modric i really rate him and only see him getting better Isco would be amazing and only 20yrs old finally Afellay. I think for around 50m we could get all these players and top 4 would be realistic again…..

  4. Its a shame brads had a good career and i will never forget the final against HiM in the worthington cup. He was immense. The fact is he is 41 and we should never have bought the guy. He could prob go to a lower premier league club and play every game for the next 2 years but its not going to happen at spurs. If we get lloris i believe we should let him go.

  5. Did u guys thought that we were taken over by oil rich owners or Modric transfer fee is 80m? Remember that we already spend about 20+m on 3 players. If we are really so rich, we won’t be dragging our feet in the transfer market for so long. Be glad that we will get at most another 2 players in. Willian and Modric replacement.

    • We have or should have plenty of money to spend.

      IN’s
      Pav – 8mil
      Corluka – 6m
      Pienaar – 4m
      Krankjar – 7m
      Modric – 30m
      Total = 55m

      OUT’S
      Adebeyor – 5m
      Siggurdson – 8m
      Vertonghen – 10m
      Total = 23m

      Leaving – 32m

      Then you have Jenas/Dawson/Dos Santos/Gomes
      who could also leave to raise decent money. On top of say a 15m Transfer budget this season. Id say we should be looking at spending another 50m at least before the window closes.

  6. Lloris is a must. Potential world class keeper for a relative bargain, and perfect for AVB’s system. Friedel is too old and slow.
    We still need one more proper striker. Remy would be great and reasonable. Damiao would be perfect but won’t likely happen.
    Now with Dembele coming in, don’t think Willian should be a priority, although we could still use him, esp since he can play wide right, and as we saw against W Brom, Lennon is sometimes retarded.
