We talked about Kyle Naughton yesterday and the possibility of the former Sheffield United taking over from BAE for the next month and the player himself has now spoken about his opportunity.

Kyle was converted from right back and did a steady job against Reading and he hopes to fill in for the whole of Benny’s absence at least.

“It was great to get the three points and that the gaffer gave me a chance to show what I can do,” Naughton said on the club website.

“I played at left-back a few times for Norwich last season and hopefully now I can carry on playing.

“Everyone’s been brilliant and I just hope I can carry on now and play in the Europa League.”

Jan Vertonghen was another option for AVB and the Belgian has played there for the national side on a few occasions. After Jan’s solid performance at the heart of defence however, it seems more than likely that Naughton will continue to provide that cover on the left.
