The big talking point ahead of this match is whether Emmanuel Adebayor will take his place in the Tottenham side. Reports suggest that Ade is fit enough and he has received an impressive endorsement from Andre Villas-Boas.

“He was one of the most important players last season,” AVB said. ”As soon as we can get him back on track fitness-wise, he’ll be massive for us.

“Having him back will be a boost. He’s a goalscorer. If he is to go back to goalscoring ways, he can take us to another level.”

Even if Ade is 100%, and those comments suggest he isn’t, would it be a surprise to see Jermain Defoe dropped to the bench or could we see a complete change round in a side where AVB accommodates both strikers?

Elsewhere, there are no new injury worries so Kaboul, Parker, Naughton, Livermore and BAE are all ruled out. We feel it might shape up like this but what’s your view?

  2. Well I certainly don’t suggest changing our system to the 4-3-3 you suggest at this stage of the season. We should stick with the 4-1-4-1 system we have been using and play the same side in the same way we played Manchester United.

  4. It’s not team selection that’s the problem, effort and passion that’s what was lacking on Thursday, we could pick any starting 11 from our squad capable of beating the Villans using any formation. If a player rates 6.0 he should get 60% wages 4.5 gets 45% maybe they would then start to earn those crazy wages. Injured players get basic sick pay £100 per week, well they don’t need more as they’re recovering.

  5. Bring in Smith to replace Walker, who has been having a nightmare run of games.

Sigurdsson has been quiet so far and I look forward to the time when Alex Pritchard is playing in that position. In the meantime it is also worth trying Dempsey, Falque and Carroll, to see if they offer more impact.

  6. Easy really, same side as we used against United

Sigurdsson hasnt done enough to warrant a start

I personally would start Ade ahead of JD coz I am sick of him going missing for 80 mins a match and then shooting from silly angles.

People are raving about how good he has been this year but he has only 4 goals.

Luis Suarez has scored about 7 and people are saying how wasteful he is

Defoe hasn’t looked good since QPR play Adebayor to give Defoe a wake up call that he isn’t the only striker at the lane

  8. How can u say defoe only has four goals, goals win games who else would have given us four goals? Nobody! Take away suarez hatrick which only wins one game and he’s got 3 goals defoe and dempsey must start for squad to be happy players must see and understand why they are being dropped. So if they are playing well they stay this is called healthy competition, this what I most like about AVB so when players come in they know they know they could get in the team if they play well keeping them motivated. Plus if adebayor or gilfy come on they know what they have to do to get into team. COYS back ur boys through thick and thin

    • I agree with you with Defoe should stay in the side since he is in form and laying well. But Siggy should come in for Dempsey who was the worst player in the Utd game should be dropped.
