Amidst all the names being linked with a move to Spurs this morning, there are two that won’t be that familiar to supporters. The alleged January war chest has brought a flood of connections this morning so in a quite international week, it might just be worth looking at the two new boys.
With the success of Belgian players in the Premier League it’s easy to link more of their countrymen with a move to England. Dries Mertens is a 25 year old winger currently playing for PSV Eindhoven and considering his playing position, he has an impressive scoring record.
At PSV, Mertens has 25 goals in 40 league games and he has also earned 12 caps for his country, scoring just once.
Adam Maher is the second name mentioned and he is a Dutch international currently playing for AZ. A midfielder, Maher is just 19 and while he looks to be one for the future, he already has two full caps to his name.
It’s interesting to find new names linked with a move among the old connections but what could Mertens or Maher bring to White Hart Lane?
Is mertens da guy who pushed cahill into joe hart leaving him with a broken jaw? He looked quality in the belgium england friendly though the belgians had hazard playin up front so there was no recognised striker 2 hit. As a result there wasnt much end product

He’s an inside forward style player that AVB likes too…right footed player on the left hand side. Imagine he can play right wing as well.
Mertens is rated by most Belgian football experts as just under Hazard but better than Kevin Miralles who isnt doing too bad at Everton. He would be unbelievable competition for Bale & Lennon. His hatrick 2 weeks ago in a 6-0 win for PSV was top drawer. Miles more composed infront of goal than Lennon. Defo 1 we should be looking at along with Wilf Zaha. COYS
Both those players would be excellent in the squad, especially Mertens, and are the type of players AVB prefers. Sell Jenas, Hudd(just too slow), Bentley and if we get another centerback sell Dawson (he looks like he has cement in his shoes).
