Tottenham have been linked with Alvaro Negredo on many occasions in the past but it’s difficult to recall any stories mentioning his Sevilla team mate Jesus Navas.

However, reports coming from Spain suggest that financial issues may force the La Liga to sell the international pair and that Spurs are battling with Arsenal for their signatures.

Navas is remembered for an injury time goal at Euro 2012 and he is predominantly a right winger who can switch to the left flank on occasions. He’s 26 and has played 21 times for Spain but unless AVB has plans to sell Aaron Lennon it seems like a non-starter.

Negredo however looks to be a different proposition having averaged around a goal every other game since joining his present employers back in 2009.

Many striker links will surface between now and the end of January and Negredo will certainly be one of the better ones. However, with Defoe and Adebayor seemingly battling for one slot, is there really room for another centre forward at the Lane?

  1. Lennon only played in 23 PL games last season, signing Navas would be a great deal as it would mean we would have three top wingers competing for two places and of course it would also enable Bale to play more centrally when we wanted a player with real pace in the hole or as a striker option
