The goalkeeping situation at Spurs may be affecting Hugo Lloris’ confidence but it probably isn’t that ideal for Brad Friedel either and it’s not a great surprise to see the American international linked with a move away from the club. At this stage in Brad’s career, he may be happy to sit on the bench in the Premier League but would he be content right now, with the current arbitrary system of rotation at the Lane?
Friedel has been linked with a move back to Blackburn Rovers where he would rejoin former team mate Henning Berg and probably work as understudy to former Spurs keeper Paul Robinson. Perhaps a long term coaching role could also be part of the deal.
At 41, there was always the feeling that this was going to be Brad’s last season and while he seems like the kind of man who would hang around until the end of the campaign, the Blackburn offer may be too good to refuse on a personal level. If he went in January, would anyone really blame him?
