Tottenham are being widely linked with a move for Spanish born midfielder Pedro Obiang – a 20 year old Spanish youth international who is currently playing in Serie A for Sampdoria. Spurs are one of a number of clubs that are believed to have watched the player in recent weeks but his agent insists that his client is focusing on his current club.
“We know that several Italian, English and Spanish clubs are following him, but Pedro is a mature guy and is thinking only about Sampdoria,” said Jose Miguel Gonzalez.
“We are excited about the interest of other clubs, there are many rumours, but we have not spoken to anyone.”
The agent also went on to underline the difficulty for any club to land a player half way through a season.
“It’s early to talk about the market,” he added “Pedro works with humility and wants to help the team to climb up the table. Among February and April we will see what happens.”
Lack of availability in January is one of the reasons that drives a club to sign a Saha or a Nelsen and it could be that a barren winter is on the cards. As for Pedro Obiang, he looks a good prospect but it’s hard to see where he fits in at the Lane.
