Andre Villas-Boas confirmed that Gareth Bale and Michael Dawson are both fit and available for tomorrow’s game at White Hart Lane.
“They have made great progress with their injuries, even last week,” said Andre. “For this fixture, both will be available.”
Meanwhile, Scott Parker looks set to remain on the bench while BAE is some way off a first team recall.
“Scott is increasing his level of fitness, Benoit also, so it’s all positive signs at the moment,” added AVB.
It seems almost certain that Bale will walk straight back into the side but who will make way? Clint Dempsey has been moved to the left in Gareth’s absence but the American does seem a first choice for the coach. Assuming that AVB goes with 4-4-2 it’s going to be a tough call – who misses out?
Here’s our starting XI but what’s your view?

Can’t argue with your team, but my first choice sub would be gylfi over Dempsey and still not convinced billy is up to 2 quick games so would bring in caulker against villa and gylfi for Azza as I don’t think he’s as effective away from the lane
LLORIS
WALKER DAWSON VERTONGHEN NAUGHTON
LENNON SANDRO DEMBELE BALE
ADEBAYOR
DEFOE
4-4-1-1
Lloris
Walker, Dawson, Caulker, Vertonghen
Sandro, Dembele
Lennon, Dempsey, Bale
Adebayor
Subs – Friedel; Gallas, Naughton; Parker, Sigurdsson, Huddlestone; Defoe.
At the back, I feel that we need height, rather than pace. Drop Gallas, bring back Dawson and Caulker. Bale, obviously has a place in the first eleven.

I like the first option only I would exchange Caulker for Gallas.
Obviously, it depends on whos fit, but I believe that if we can neutralise Stoke’s height advantage, then half the battle is already won. So with that in mind:
Lloris
Walker Gallas Dawson Vertonghen
Sandro Huddlestone
Lennon Dembele Bale
Adebayor/Defoe
Wud agree with Kieran and Colin, that we need Walker ( speed), Verts, Dawson, Caulker at the back,. These 4 have speed Eg Walker’s speed and pass, allowed Verts to score Verts goal to break a deadlock at Swansea. Against tall, aggressive teams, we need tall, aggressive ball-winning defenders too, and this we have in Verts, Dawson and Caulker. Gallas and Naughton on standby.
HUGO THE BOSS
Walker Caulker Dawson THE TONGAN
AZZA BLUD Sandro Dembele WORLDS GREATEST
Adebayor/Siggy Defoe
Subs: WORLDS OLDEST, Naughton, Gallas, DEUCE, Siggy/Livermore, Huddlestone, Townsend
Lloris,
Walker, Dawson, Caulker, Vertonghen,
Sandro, Dembele,
Lennon, Adebayor, Bale
Defoe
Subs: Friedel, Naughton, Gallas, Parker, Dempsey, Sigurdsson, Townsend.
I agree against Stoke we need height at the back rather than pace, especially for set pieces. If Dawson is fully fit I would play him over Gallas as he is stronger and better in the air and partner him with Caulker, playing Vertonghen at LB. I would select the extra mobility and class of Adebayor over Dempsey as the second striker. The rest of the team more or less picks itself.
spot on!
Lloris,walker,caulker,dawson,vertonghen,sandro,parker,dembele,lennon,bale,adebayor…..defoe and dempsey coming in as super subs
