For once, it was Tottenham’s turn to score in added Fergie time as Clint Dempsey’s late, late strike earned Spurs a point against Manchester United yesterday evening. Clint’s leveller came in the 93rd minute after his earlier effort was saved by David de Gea and it was just reward for a game that we dominated in terms of possession and shots on target.

After the match, Andre Villas-Boas echoed what all but the most biased United fan was thinking when he said that the draw was fully deserved.

“We deserved the draw – we deserved to win, to be fair,” said Andre on the club’s official website.

“We controlled the game, limited their chances and it was unfair for us to go 1-0 down in the first half.”

AVB also stated that the plan was to push for an early equaliser in the second period.

“Our strategy in the second half was to try and score as early as possible to get the crowd behind us and go for the second goal,” he added.

“We got the point we wanted in a difficult game and well done to the lads and their spirit to achieve a result like this.”

The point keeps us in fourth and after the break for the FA Cup, next up in the league is a trip to Norwich on the 30th of January.

  1. Great result really. 4 points off Utd this year. Would have won if we’d scored earlier but we were pretty unlucky.
Could equally have lost of the pen had been given. Did look like a pen TBH.
Thought Parker was immense given it was his first start of the season. Good also to see Benny get some time, bit rusty but will in time be better at LB than KN.
Also thought Dempsey had a good game, nice to have a physical presence up top.
Lennon was MOTM by a mile though!

  2. Of course we deserved it. We had 5 times as many shots as they had. To dominate the league leaders like that can only fill us with hope for the rest of the season. We are solid and look so resilient it’s so great to see. I’m worried like most in that we are 2 or 3 injuries away from tough times. If dembele / Defoe / bale get injured we are in serious trouble as it stands. I reckon signing Holtby and a striker before month end will give us exactly what we desperately need and help secure the top 4 spot. I’d still sell Tom for 6 mill to fund the moves we may make. I wonder will we go for the number ten ie Willian or a number 9 ie diamao?

  3. On the subject of buying a striker, what do people think about a bid for Jordan Rhodes. He’s young, physical and scores tons of goals. 15 for Blackburn this year and about 100 goals in 150 games in total. Would probably cost £10m
