Stories linking Leandro Damiao with a move to White Hart Lane have now almost outnumbered rumours relating to another old favourite – Klaas-Jan Huntelaar but could this long running saga finally be coming to an end? There was a widespread suggestion that Andre Villas-Boas was setting up a smokescreen when he claimed that Spurs would not be in the market for a striker by the end of this week.

‘I don’t think so, no,’ was AVB’s answer when questioned about new centre forwards but that hasn’t stopped the gossip.

Damiao’s is the first name in the frame amidst reports that Tottenham have gone in with a £20m bid behind the scenes in a desperate attempt to land the Brazilian before Thursday’s deadline.

Elsewhere, it’s also being claimed that Alvaro Negredo’s immediate future is being tracked by Spurs. The 27 year old Sevilla striker is clear to leave a cash strapped club but while the La Liga side are thought to be holding out for £15m, Tottenham are offering £10m in the hope that financial issues may force a sale.

According to the reports, Damiao is target number one with Negredo in the frame as back up but are the stories anything more than mere gossip?

  1. the Negredo story sounds real and could happen the other i wont even talk about cos we all know its crap we have the cash for both but Levy dont part with cash easily so it will come down to weather he will pay the asking price or find a cheaper has been to try and satisfy the fans please please Levy get Negredo and that top 4 spot is ours COYS

  2. If i was Levy i would take advantage of clubs with financial problems and players that have low buyout clauses.
