Our team to face Liverpool – what’s yours?

There’s no official word on the club website as yet but reports suggest that Aaron Lennon may miss the trip to Anfield with a slight hamstring strain. The club has two very important games coming up over the next week but will the winger be risked if the reports are true?

Andre Villas-Boas does have options on the right side and one answer would be to bring in Lewis Holtby in to play on the left with Gylfi Sigurdsson switching to cover for Lennon. Clint Dempsey would be another alternative if the American has recovered from his calf problem.

Elsewhere, there should be at least two changes from the team that faced Inter Milan on Thursday with Hugo Lloris returning in goal and Michael Dawson coming back into the heart of defence to replace William Gallas.

Will AVB make any further changes with Caulker coming in and Vertonghen switching to the left? Here’s how we think Spurs will line up at kick off but what’s your view?

  1. Vertonghen should never play at LB unless we are playing Stoke. He’s too slow to deal with Sturridge.

    Walker Dawson Vertonghen Assou-Ekotto
    Parker Dembele
    Sigurdsson Bale Holtby

  2. Lloris
    Walker Caulker Gallas BAE

    Parker Dembele

    Sigurdsson Bale Holtby

Think we might need Gallas and BAE pace against Coutinho, Sturridge and Suarez

  3. Why change an backline that has been winning games in the PL?

Gallas and Caulker are not as good a pairing as Dawson and Vertonghen. Play your best players back there.

  4. We need Assou-Ekotto’s attacking threat down the left as Holtby may be inclined to play narrower.

And Vertonghen is stronger in the middle alongside Dawson.

Otherwise how you’ve got it with Sigurdsson and Holtby having the freedom to switch flanks.

But I’d like Lennon to be fit! If he is, as much as I’m excited by Holtby, Sigurdsson has to keep his place after his last two performances.

  5. Super-Jan has been MOTM in the last 2 games playing in the middle. Surely the last thing AVB should be doing right now is switching him to leftback..?!
