Injury news may be improving at Spurs and while supporters were hopeful of a return for Gareth Bale ahead of next week’s match with Manchester City, it now seems almost certain that the Welshman will be available.

As well as the side may have battled to that draw with Everton on Sunday, Bale’s absence, along with that of Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe was keenly felt but there seems a good chance that all three will be fit along with at least one defender in time for the City clash.

Younes Kaboul came through 60 minutes for the under 21’s on Monday and his performance drew praise from coach Chris Ramsey.

“He did well, had no problems really. He wanted to play an extra 15 minutes as well, showed a fantastic attitude and wanted to push his fitness a little more,” Ramsey said after the match.

The final player edging his way back to fitness is William Gallas but it’s unlikely that AVB will risk the Frenchman at the heart of defence in such a crucial game.

So the news comes too late for tomorrow’s important return leg with Basel but when City arrive, it may be that Spurs have a fully fit squad – with the exception of Sandro – to choose from.
