Heurelho Gomes’ plans to leave White Hart Lane at the end of the season were dealt a significant blow by the serious hand injury sustained by the Brazilian while on loan at Hoffenheim. The keeper had impressed during his stay and while a transfer to Germany may still be on the cards, the player himself only seems to have one club on his mind.
“This is an important choice. But first I have to recover from my injury. Next season I want to be in top shape at a new club,” Heurelho said.
“At PSV, I experienced the best time of my career. I’ve always said that I would return to PSV. Maybe that time is now.
With one year left on his contract, it seems likelier than ever that Gomes will be allowed to leave at the end of the season.
“My contract at Tottenham Hotspur is only for one more year. I think Tottenham wants to contribute to my leaving now,” he added.
“At this stage of my career, money is not the most important thing. And I have something to offer. I have five or six good years ahead.”
