Throughout the week we’ve touched on the subject of Emmanuel Adebayor – firstly amidst reports of a move to Monaco at the end of the season and then we asked whether he had a future at Spurs after his best performance of the campaign in midweek.

Tottenham’s wage structure was broken by Ade who is believed to be on around £100k a week at the club and one of the plus points was to get the striker off the bill. However, with Gareth Bale set to be offered an even better deal, could the club be about to splash out even further with a summer bid for Barcelona’s David Villa?

Reports claim that Barca are ready to sell the 31 year old after he returned from a lengthy injury lay off to watch much of the season from the subs bench. Clearly he has more to offer and if he seeks a move away from the club then his current side will be looking for around £13m for his signature.

Once again, Spurs have been linked as one of those clubs ready to make a move but is it one that’s really likely, or will Adebayor still be in residence in 2013-14?

  1. Cant see this happening levy will not want to pay 13mill for a striker thats 31 years old and would have no sell on value once his contract would be close to finishing.
imo the only way this could happen is if the price to dropped alot to tempt levy.

  2. This is something that could happen!! Although he is 31 he would help is gain CL football or if get in do relatively well!! With him in our side his price wouldn’t matter as playing in CL will pay for his transfer alone plus we will sell fringe players!! Having Villa and another striker, who’s young, come in as we’ll as Defoe would be a very good move for tottenham!!

  3. Can we just find another target that’s not Arsenal’s??? I hate us playing this me too card. Also, we need CL for him to even consider. Lets just worry about that first.

  4. If Levy is prepared to pay £13 million for Villa then he may as well find the extra £3 million for Leandro Damiao. He is only 22 and can only get even better than he is.

    • Damaio will never come to Spurs IMHO, although I would love him to, and especially not for £16M. Villa would be good, but again another story that just will not happen. Levy wouldn’t spend that money on a 31 yr old whos hardly played a game last season
