The name of Matej Vydra has appeared in the transfer gossip columns in the last few days with the suggestion that the on-loan Watford striker will be looking for Premiership football next season. Vydra’s parent club is Italian side Udinese but the Czech international has spent the last few months at Vicarage Road where he has done much to take his club to the brink of the Premier League.

Vydra had made little impact in Italy, or at his previous club Banik Ostrava but in 41 league games for Watford this season he has found the net on twenty occasions. However, the 21 year old had been experiencing an alarming drought before finding the net in Watford’s crucial semi final with Leicester City.

The striker also won Championship player of the year during his time at Vicarage Road and it’s thought that if Watford fail to beat Crystal Palace in the Bank Holiday final, he may look elsewhere for Premier league football.

Matej Vydra is certainly a prospect but is he ready to assume the role of a main striker at White Hart Lane?

  1. I doubt very much he is being bought as “main striker”, more as “decent back-up”. Silly season has started early but the price and player’s age will probably appeal to Levy although at the mooted £5M price tag, Levy will probably want £4,999,099 change.

  2. Udinese paid £3m for him as a 17 yr old so they certainly had plans for him but unfortunately he got quite badly injured and ended up at Watford as part of his recovery …

    The Little Zebra’s team coach Guidolin wants him back but it seems he could now be destined for the PL with Watford.

    Sounds crazy but he is too good for Spurs* and his next move is quite likely be to a big European club.

    * or rather their budget

  3. Spurs won’t be able to afford him. Udinese do not sell their younger players on the cheap – start thinking £15M+ before they would answer the phone.

    • No … you never heard of him and that’s only because you live in a Premiership bubble. Vydra’s what you call a rising star and a first choice Czech international…. so I fink dat makes u look a bit fick – moron
