Three Spurs players were on show as Belgium hammered the USA by four goals to two in Cleveland early this morning with Clint Dempsey the one man on target from the penalty spot.
The Belgians were expected to field a shadow side because of injury but Jan Vertonghen and Moussa Dembele were joined by Christian Benteke, Romelu Lukaku, Kevin Mirallas, Marouane Fellaini and more as the visitors romped home.
Villa’s Benteke was the biggest injury doubt but the striker will surely have increased his stock with two goals in the second half. Would Spurs scouts have been watching after the player had been heavily linked with a move away from Villa Park?
The game had already gone by the time Dempsey scored a consolation from the spot with ten minutes to go but the player impressed in the game, as did Vertonghen who lasted the 90 minutes while Dembele made way for Benteke towards the end of the first half.
