Spurs need a striker and for once it looks as if the club will sign one during the summer transfer window but while a string of familiar names have been doing the rounds, few of us will be familiar with our latest reported target – on-loan Bologna Centre Forward Manolo Gabbiadini.
The striker is just 21 and to date, his scoring record is quite modest. Juventus are one of Gabbiadini’s parent clubs – he is co-owned by Atalanta – but he has yet to make a full league appearance for the Old Lady, while in 30 matches for Bologna, he has found the net on just six occasions.
However, some potential must have been identified because the player already has a full international cap to his name while becoming a regular member of the Italian Under 21 squad. It’s at this level where his goals to game ratio improves – 10 strikes in 19 matches.
The Italian press report that Spurs haven’t progressed beyond showing an interest but while it’s an interesting link, a more tempting deal would surely involve Watford’s Matej Vydra, whose name has appeared once again over the course of the last 24 hours.
Currently we seem to be linked with just about every striker on the planet – possibly beyond!
This one seems like a Football Manager rumour!
