The overwhelming need for Spurs this summer must surely be one or two senior strikers but the press continue to link the club with players in just about every other position bar goalkeeper.

The latest name in the frame is that of Ghanaian International defender Daniel Opare who is currently playing his football with Standard Liege in Belgium. Opare has talked up news of alleged Tottenham interest and told Sky Sports that he would welcome such a move.

“I am flattered by the interest of Spurs. They are a very good team in England I will jump at the chance to join them if they reach an agreement with my current club,” the player said.

“I know there is a long way to go yet and also the level in England is a lot higher than in Belgium, but I think I can play there at a good level.

“If I get the chance to play for a team like Tottenham I will take it.”

It’s said that Opare is a Franco Baldini recommendation after the player spent three years in the Real Madrid academy. He can play either on the left or right and plays as a wingback in Liege’s attacking style of play.

This may be a stronger rumour than some we’ve seen over the last few days but Daniel Opare may be no more than cover at the Lane for BAE and Kyle Walker and that’s unlikely to suit the player, meaning that should be another one to file away.

  2. Come on guys!! I tried to start a rumour on Vital Spurs yesterday about George North joining us, and nobodys bitten yet! It has legs! He’s 6’5″ so he’s big and strong and could lead the line. And his captain is Sam Warburton, a known Spurs fan!! And he’s a striker (of sorts).
