Spurs’ busiest summer of transfer deals continues and while head coach Andre Villas-Boas claims that more moves are expected, both in and out of the club, he denies reports that an agreement has been reached with Real Madrid in respect of Gareth Bale.

It was widely reported that Willian was undergoing a medical in London yesterday so you could even refresh the official website throughout the day for confirmed news but AVB’s comments suggest that it won’t end there.

“We are moving forward with not only trimming the squad, but adding tremendous talent,” Andre said.

“It hasn’t finished yet for us, we will continue to do some activity in the market both ways and we look forward to be stronger than the year before.”

Naturally the press continue in their assertion that the Gareth Bale deal will swiftly be done but AVB countered.

“That is not true.”

“Ideally we want to keep everyone to make us stronger – that is the ultimate objective of the club.”

The next few hours are all about the game in Tbilisi but it’s hard to ignore the news feeds. Will anything be confirmed today regarding Willian or even Erik Lamela with the press now claiming a £31m deal has been agreed with the Roma ace?

  1. What AVB said was not true was that Bale had already signed for Real. He didn’t say it wasn’t imminent or wasn’t happening.
