Spurs fans have voted for their player of the month for September and the award goes to one of our seven new signings – Christian Eriksen. The former Ajax man arrived in an almost subdued manner on the same weekend that the club confirmed the record signing of Erik Lamela but he quickly became a fans’ favourite and a regular starter under AVB.

It was a double celebration for the 21 year old who also won the accolade for goal of the month – his late strike against Tromso in the Europa League being enough to sway the voters.

It’s been an impressive start to White Hart Lane life for the Danish international although Eriksen did come in for some criticism for his part in Tottenham’s defeat to West Ham. Those comments had come from his Danish home land where newspaper BT said that the opposition had done their homework, and denied him the space needed to have any influence.

Eventually, Eriksen was sacrificed for Roberto Soldado on 73 minutes as Spurs looked to haul back a two goal deficit.

As the campaign wears on, Christian will be a marked man as teams become aware of his threat while his ability to respond and adapt is key to a successful season and more player of the month awards.
