Holtby Stays

Holtby Stays

2

Yesterday we picked up on reports suggesting that one midfielder – Mousa Dembele – would soon be on their way out of Spurs and in a slow international week, focus has fallen on another of our men. Lewis Holtby has impressed while coming off the bench and in cup competitions but hasn’t had quite the same impact as a starter in the Premiership.

Rumours of a sale for the man who arrived at White Hart Lane less than a year ago started as soon as the new players came through the door this summer but Holtby’s agent suggests that his client is going nowhere.

“He is very happy in London and has integrated very well at Tottenham. Absolutely he is not thinking of changing clubs in the next window,” said Marcus Noack.

With Christian Eriksen likely to be sidelined for several weeks, Lewis may get a straight return into the starting XI for Sunday’s game at Manchester City. Erik Lamela is being widely touted as an alternative this morning but is the German a more likely choice?

  1. For away at City, we need to go big and strong.

Sandro, Paulhinho & Dembele in midfield, with Lennon and Townsend or their natural wings.

We will have to soak it up and hit them on the counter attack.

I do worry about Aguero one on one with Dawson……..its like a teenager having a kick around with their Dad, just knock it past him and run.

  2. I think if dembele leaves then spurs have missed a trick,he’s a terrific attacking midfielder, with a more forward role he could be a revelation. Why is it spurs appear to not being getting the best out of a number of players ? The squad seems to be being stripped of its attacking intent and i just dont get it, we are harder to beat but we almost play the percentages game of a run of the mill poker player at the moment. Time to accept the darce and do what we do best.
