Spurs claimed another three points with back to back away wins as the team secured victory at the Stadium of Light. In a performance that mirrored our trip to Sunderland last season, we went a goal down before coming back to seal a 2-1 victory that kept the team in sixth place.

Paulinho’s first half goal drew the teams level and after the game, former Spur Glenn Hoddle highlighted the Brazilian’s ability to get into goal scoring situations. Conversion could be better but the midfielder was happy enough to get on Saturday’s scoresheet.

“It was an important goal but the most important thing was that we got the three points,” Paulinho said.

“We played so well. We showed real concentration after we conceded the first goal and we were ready to score soon after.

“The Premier League is difficult and when you lose the first goal, you have to play well. We did that. We passed the ball well, kept possession and that was key. Then we scored the two goals. It was important to win this game.”

We’ve seen other games this season where dominance of possession hasn’t quite given us the edge but with Paulinho further forward, we are more positive and seem to have a better chance of turning it into something tangible.

Next up for Spurs is our final Europa League group game at home to Anzhi this Thursday before Liverpool visit the Lane on Sunday the 15th.

  1. After two luky win avb and spures need strong midfield statitcs ,defensive & creativity to box to box plus positioning spures need two central midfielder to maintain ball moer box to box playing defensive but attaking minded

  2. After an uninspiring first half the team showed more desire, increased tempo and creativity in the second. Defoe had 4 good chances and should have bagged a couple.
We should not wait until we are behind to start playing, as Danny Blanchflower once said “We should equalise before they score.”

  3. Collymore said something interesting on talksport about wondering why spurs dont play the likes of paulinho and dembele further forward. We could play them and siggy behind soldado with capoue and the beast as dfms. No wingers but we may get more goals with dem on left, siggy no10 and paulinho on righ. We may not have the width but we wold have guys supportig soldado. Just a thought. COYS.
