Tim Sherwood’s first, first choice XI as Tottenham’s interim boss is a tough one to call but our former midfielder did give his injury round up and the problem area is in defence, where Vlad Chiriches may just be able to answer the call.

“Vlad has a chance,” said Tim who confirmed that Jan Vertonghen was still ruled out while Michael Dawson is missing through suspension .

Would Sherwood risk Vlad ahead of a vital game this weekend and a busty Christmas period? It doesn’t sound as if he is fully fit so we could see a real makeshift back four.

In midfield there are almost infinite permutations while Jermain Defoe should start up front amidst fresh rumours that he is off to Canada in January. The other question is whether the new coaching team will abandon 4-2-3-1 and play two up front.

Here’s our best guess but what’s your view?

  5. Fryers, Capoue, and Naughton was shocking against Lpool. Your midfield seems very lightweight. And is Ade fit to play?

    • Dawson was the biggest nightmare, the guy is a joke, even when we werent c onceding goals left right and center he was the one at fault for the few we did concede (Giroud at Arsenal) and (Terry at Chelsea)

      Fryers did nothing wrong against Liverpool he kept Sterling more quiet than Nuaghton did and got a few crosses in

  9. Very balanced attacking team. I would pick the same team but go with Soldado upfront with Adebayor. Still believe given the right service S9 is the best finisher at the club. I also believe Adebayor still got a lot to offer at this level. He done well 2 seasons ago coz we played 442 and Harry got the best out if him, AVB system didn’t suit him! If we see out the year unbeaten then we can still make top 4!! COYS…

    I would like to see Capoue DM with Lamella on the right, Towsend on the left, Erickson and Holtby attacking mid and Ade or Sol up front. If Capoue is needed at CB then Djemba

  14. I am amazed by the idiocy of the comments regarding our back 4!!!
    Its the same issue AVB had vs Liverpool,. None of our first choice back 4 are fit so what choice would any manager f*****g have??!?!!!!

    If Rose is indeed 50/50, rest him for the more important Lge game, this is what AVB should have done, rather than play him against Anjhi and not Liverpool, but apart form that he had no choice and neither does Tim Sherwood!

  19. Hell not Naughton, for goodness sake. Lennon on right Townsend on left, Dembele attacking with Sigurdson, Holtby holding. Backs Vlad Walker Fryer. Up front Defoe and Abracadabra.

  20. Look, don’t get me wrong chaps but I want Lamela to do well at Tottenham. However, he has showed absolutely no sign of justifying his price tag let alone show us he’s got something about him….there’s been no signs thus far that’s for sure…rabbit in the headlights springs to mind. So, my question is why on earth have a load of my fellow spurs fans picked him to play tonight!? Sigurdsson was outstanding in the early part of the season and rather bizarrely frozen out by the departed AVB. Sadly too, Naughton just isn’t up to it either and should be shipped out at the earliest opportunity and Chadli needs to pull his finger out. Bar that we’ve got some cracking players and Sherwood and Ferdinand will get them playing some attacking football from the off! 4-0 tonight….mark my words!

  22. Lamela will come good but it will take time for him to adapt to the english league , don’t judge him on barely half of the season so far ,

    There plenty of football to play for spurs he just needs a run of games ………….be patient.

    Fredericks, Walker, Capoue, Fryers

    Lamela, Dembele, Eriksen, Sigurddsson

    Soldado, Defoe.

    Save Rose, Lennon, Adebayor, Townsend, Chadli for Southampton.

    When all fit I wouldn’t mind seeing a 3-5-2 formation as I feel with our squad it would work well.

    • we maybe a bit narrow, but that would be my back 4. Save Vlad to partner Daws on Sunday. I think I would want Lenny and Andros for width as we need to beat Wet Spam tonight and they would provide the service to Bobby and JD.

  24. Kaybee I agree tbh i thought he was available for tonight seen as they are so light at the back I thought there was no other choice! He Defo isn’t good enough infact it’s gettin embarrassing to say the least. If all fit chiriches and verts for the center back pair!

  26. heres another option why not play the young full back Ryan Fredericks and then we wouldnt have mr walker to worry about he is great fullback but seems to forget thats his job on sunday he was caught out and as he has done before commits stupid foul and gets booked remember the england game who ever sherwood picks i think it will be a different team and we will play the real spurs way
