The transfer gossip columns haven’t ruled out the possibility of Spurs signing a striker in the transfer window to replace the departing Jermain Defoe who will leave the club at the end of next month. Today there are two names in the frame, one of which is very familiar while the other is a relatively new link.
Fabio Quagliarella is a 30 year old centre forward with plenty of experience and 25 full Italian caps to his name. He’s currently at Juventus but down the pecking order after the arrival of Carlos Tevez and it’s thought that the player could be allowed to leave in January for a fee in the region of £6m.
Quagliarella has played for eight professional clubs – all based in Italy – and throughout his career he is averaging around a goal every three games at best.
Meanwhile, our old favourite Dimitar Berbatov is doing the rounds again. At present their seems to be one isolated story today although it’s not quite clear why it’s reappeared as there doesn’t seem to be any new developments.
The Bulgarian is 32, two years’ older than Quagliarella but his scoring record is better and he obviously has Premiership experience. At £1.5m, Berbatov is by far the better of the two links but is there really any chance of either of them coming to fruition?

For me of what is available and more to the point who would come to us it has to be Berbatov.He is still quality and could play with either of Soldado or Adebayor plus we know what we get .Forget the past that is gone its what he could do now in the squad we have and at 1.5m its a winner all the way.
I agree with the above comments bring back Berbatov , a useful backup striker.

Why did he leave, spurgatso?? Wouldn’t you leave your job for a pay packet twice the size (and to a bigger club)? I know I would. Berbatov would have been bonkers to stay at Spurs. Football is his job. An extra £50k a week comes in handy!!
Sounds good to me. He may not always deliver but he’s so great to watch. Could be the element of unpredictability we need.

Exactly, Martin Jol delat with him at Fulham despite the Berbatov saga pretty much costing him his job at Spurs. At £1.5M he would be a good option and I trust him far more than Adebayor.
