Three of the Champions League places for 2014-15 seem to be booked up with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City starting to pull away from the rest of the pack. That leaves Liverpool, Everton and Spurs to fight over the final qualifying slot and it makes our home game with the Toffees absolutely vital this Sunday.
Of course, Spurs’ players will be up for the battle and Hugo LLoris has publicly declared that he believes we can still feature in Europe’s elite competition next season.
“I am lucky to play in a competitive team, but there are six or seven clubs fighting for Champions League positions,” Lloris said.
“This season teams will need a very high number of points for those positions, but it remains possible for us.”
The keeper also acknowledged that big defeats against Liverpool and Manchester City (twice) could ultimately hurt us.
“We are in a difficult situation with our goal difference, but we will fight until the end. It doesn’t change our ambition, even if it is a bit more difficult for a team in competition for a top-four finish,” he added.
We are just three points off Liverpool in fourth but with tough games coming up, how do you rate our chances?
