It’s been a relatively productive loan period at Fulham for Lewis Holtby but with the Cottagers seemingly destined for the Championship, his future is far from settled. It’s been a difficult week for the German from a personal viewpoint and it ends with the Evening Standard claiming that he could be back in his homeland this summer.
The idea of loaning out Lewis was to give him more game time in World Cup year but with Tottenham’s overcrowded midfield showing no signs of slimming down, can he really expect for a less frustrating time at White Hart Lane if he does return to his parent club?
A Championship side would be of no use to the 23 year old and even if Fulham were to stay up, Holtby’s talent deserves better than to be playing at the bottom of the Premier League.
The Standard piece claims that Borussia Dortmund and his former club Schalke are monitoring the situation while the player’s representatives are seeking talks with Spurs with a view to clarification. That could be difficult with continuing uncertainty over the manager’s job but if Lewis Holtby were to stay at Tottenham, can he really expect any more time on the pitch during the next campaign?
Hes a good young player and works hard for the team… sell capoue instead!!!!! We should play liverpool how sunderland did last night with two defenders pernamently with susrez n sturridge!!! Sunderland nearly pulled it off? We can do better…. coys…..
well worth bringing holtby back he at least shows some fight, pauliniho looses the ball and gives up ,never seen Erickson make a tackle ,and god help us if we play the usual high line at anfield , mostly silly mistakes at the back has cost us stay tight and work hard we can get a result on sunday …
