When CSKA Moscow striker Seydou Doumbia was at his prolific best some 2-3 years ago, Spurs were one of a number of clubs to be constantly linked with his signature. A serious injury last season ended that speculation but now the Ivorian is back to form and fitness, those rumours have started to circulate once again.

Now back in the CSKA starting XI, 26 year old Doumbia has scored 13 goals in 15 games and that contributes to an overall total of 49 in 75 league matches with the RPL side. Prior to that, the centre forward averaged nearly a goal a game with Young Boys in Switzerland and it may now be time to make a further move.

According to his agent, several clubs including Spurs are interested in the player. When asked about an offer from Galatasaray, Malik Arutyunov said.

“I do not know if it is genuine interest. I know that he is followed by Napoli, Tottenham, Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea but I cannot say any more.”

Converting a prolific record from Russia and Switzerland may well be difficult but it’s going to be hard to ignore Seydou Doumbia this summer. A move seems likely but where will the talented Ivorian end up?
