The majority of Spurs fans seem to have reacted positively to the suggestion that Steven Caulker could return to White Hart Lane next season while there are mixed views on the future of Younes Kaboul. Whatever happens in regards to individual personnel, there could be a few changes in central defence with Jan Vertonghen another player whose future is very much in the spotlight.

Meanwhile, expect the press to link Caulker and more with a switch to Spurs and the latest centre half to be mentioned is Sevilla’s Argentine international Federico Fazio.

At 6ft 5, Fazio is a giant at the heart of his side and has been with his current club since 2005. At 27, the press back in Spain are suggesting that the defender could be on his way out of Sevilla at the end of this season and have mentioned Spurs as one of three interested English clubs.

Serie A’s Fiorentina are also connected with a man who has two full international caps to his name. By all accounts, Federico Fazio is a calm and reliable defender but rather than taking another leap into the relatively unknown, we would rather to see Caulker back in preference to anyone else at this stage.

    • Akshayaalase never ceases to amaze me! The only player on that list that we should consider is Lukaku! Said it before and I will say it again, we need to buy players that are British and have prem experience. Why not go for broke and get Shaw, Lalana and a young British centre back! Of course this would be so much easier with Pochetino in charge, but this would be a gamble as far as I’m concerned, I don’t know what the rest of us think? Anyone got something to add about Pochetino???
