Harry Kane may have failed to score for the first time in four Premiership starts but the young striker still dominates much of the headlines this morning. After comparisons with Teddy Sheringham were made last week, the England Under 21 centre forward said he would love to emulate one of his heroes and after we made a slightly light hearted suggestion that he should be in England’s World Cup squad, a campaign to ‘Get Kane on the Plane’ began on Twitter.

“Who knows, if I get a few more in the three remaining matches, then anything is possible because strange things have happened,” Harry told the Sun.

“Just look at what my mate Andros Townsend did at the start of the season. All of a sudden he was in the England squad and helps us get to the World Cup. You have to dream.

Those claims may still be premature but at the moment, the 20 year old is the in form striker at the club. Emmanuel Adebayor has been scoreless for three games while Roberto Soldado has been relegated to the bench after returning from injury.

Perhaps a more pertinent question than Harry’s World Cup chances is the issue over the three strikers at White Hart Lane with Roberto Soldado looking particularly vulnerable after Kane’s emergence.

  1. Pk, how can you say that! All our youth players are world class, Bentaleb, Kane and Carroll will be just as good as O’Hara, Rose, Ricketts and Marney…oh wait, you’re right. Our fans always overhype them…

  2. Class act as he is Adebayor is a prima donna and can not be relied upon. Soldado is an enigma and my feeling is that with the right manager he could be great. Kane is a lot of potential but it’s far too early to start talking about the world cup.

  3. Kane is less then able!!! He will do as back up for low league cup games etc… Soldado will show his class in a 4-4-2 formation and now eriksen is supplying deadly free kicks he will get on the end of lots of them. If we can provide width and pacey balls into box he will show his class next season. Rose, lennon to go and with a left back, left winger and lamela on his favoured right side then we will storm the premiership coys.

  4. al granville, I agree, but my worry is that Soldado will be sold in the summer and will move on. Hopefully Spurs will see that Soldado is a proven goal scorer and stick with him for another season. And gav, does 3 goals in 4 PL starts mean that somebody is less than able. You are saying that Soldado is able but has only scored 2 goals from open play in countless starts and now Kane is less than able with 3 in 4

  5. *Like what u did there Gav –With the biblical twist and all*

Kane has the basics. He adds: fight, determination and accountability. However, pound for pound, Soldado is an international for the worlds number one team. (Yep Euro and world cup winners) That said, this is the premiership, where certain basics i.e. fight determination and bravery are a must. So if Robbie doesn’t expand on his already technical savvy foundations, then we may as well have signed back Zamora, cos at the minute, bad luck aside, Soldado is a great solution to somebody else’s problem and not ours. He shows glimpses and has the right hair do, its just that he has been very disappointing this season, to say the least.

  6. If you think Kane is the answer then you know nothing about football. The guy is an absolute donkey. He scores a few goals and everyone gets excited. He is Championship at BEST!!

  7. I don’t think Kane is the answer (if that comment was directed at me) I was just saying that Kane is capable in the PL but is not a solution to our goalscoring problems. I think that it should be 1st choice strikers Ade Soldado and one other new signing and then Kane

  8. Kane is able but thats all, he is not a top striker and thats what we need. Soldado is and he must be given a chance, he shows much more technical ability than Kane and yes OK you can say he has not scored goals but I beleive he will do under the correct management and system. I am not writing Kane off but he needs a couple of seasons to develop and he may be a great striker, I hope he is. Not sure ade is the man to play with Robbie.

  9. agree with all here soldano must be given another season under a new manager kane maybe one for the future yes he has scored a few goals with his enthusiasim and energy but is not first class welbeck ba and rodrigez are in a different class lukaku and boney would be an great choice if we are looking at another striker come on you spurs great win over clariets will do

  10. Levy saying there wont be many coming and goings this summer yet our three strikers need somekind of fresh ionput. Our defence needs a change of personnel with at least a strong commanding centre back and a quality left back ! Our midfield too looks like they have a lucky dip to decide who plays, is it benteleb, paulinho erikson, dembele or siggy and chadli this week ! We have some good players that can beat most teams in the prem but if we want to get better then a couple of good buys and more organisation for next summer please mr levy. Coys
