It’s always disappointing to lose your best players but could you really blame Hugo Lloris if he wanted to play his football elsewhere from the start of next season? The French international has been in top form and had remained positive as top four football continued to slip away; qualities not evident in another man with a big question mark over his head – Jan Vertonghen.
“Lloris was top drawer. I heard people talking after the Everton game when he got a bang on the head, that he wasn’t the same goalie anymore,” said Tim Sherwood after yesterday’s defeat at West Ham.
“He’s a consistent performer. He performs like that every single week. If he makes a mistake, it’s an honest mistake but he doesn’t make many.”
Meanwhile, the current Head Coach predictably pointed to Younes Kaboul’s sending off as the moment that changed the game.
“You can always look at ifs, buts and maybes, the game is full of them,” Tim said. “Unfortunately we got a red card, but it was difficult when they then scored soon afterwards.
“We had to regroup and get on with it but the second goal killed us. It’s an error from the lads, they don’t need to be told. Then we had a mountain to climb.”
There could have been the consolation of losing out on the final European place but Sunderland’s win over Manchester United yesterday means that a single point from our final game at home to Aston Villa will mean Europa League football once again.

Yesterdays performance by the Tottenham players, Llauris Eriksen Naughton and Dawson excluded, was a disgrace. Danny Rose isn’t good enough and the attitude of Paulinho and Adebayor isn’t acceptable. The team weren’t prepared for the game, the wrong midfield was chosen by Sherwood and for him to say that the second goal was an error by the players was a lie. The second goal was a result of two players, Paulinho and Adebayor moving away from the flight of the ball and allowing it to go through the wall. Neither should play for Spurs again, ever.
Rose cocked up Kaboul not reading the ball so leaving the CB to gallop after the winger and the second was just an embarrassment. Poor Lino and that Togo bloke confirmed just how spineless they are. Don’t ever want to see them in a Spurs shirt again.
We bought several new players in the summer but how many top clubs did we have to outbid to get them ? None cos no-one wanted them. We bought substandard players and its been proven this season. All we have left to look forward to now is Dim Tim and God Hod in opposing dug outs for Ledley’s Testimonial. Should be interesting !!
Very disappointed that the better players didn’t show up. What the heck was that I saw out there. Honestly, they have given up. Very sad since if you still have something to play for, you play for it damn it. We need professionals on the pitch please.
