When Spurs were set to face Dnipro in last season’s Europe League, our former manager and current boss of the Eastern European side Juande Ramos was very candid about his time at White Hart Lane. Ramos was critical of Daniel Levy’s transfer policy and there was one player in particular who the Chairman was said to have overlooked.

‘The two strikers that I asked for were Samuel Eto’o and David Villa. But we were left with Darren Bent and Roman Pavlyuchenko,’ Ramos said as he looked to replace Dimitar Berbatov.

‘We started the league and we couldn’t beat anyone; we couldn’t score a goal under a rainbow and in the eighth week I’m gone.’

Almost six years have passed since Ramos’ departure since when, the Cameroon international Eto’o has averaged around a goal every other game at Inter Milan and then at Anzhi Makhachkala. However, he could not maintain that record at Chelsea and after some less than subtle criticism from manager Jose Mourinho, it’s thought that the striker has no chance of remaining at Stamford Bridge for the new campaign.

Eto’o is officially 33 but is it a case of six years too late as far as Spurs are concerned?

  1. I should imagine the club laughed at Ramos. I remember we were actually heavily linked with him back in his Mallorca days. So it’s been 10-11 years (too late).

  2. GET THE FECK OUT OF HERE DO WE PLAN TO SPEND ANOTHER SEASON AS ALSO RAN`S , LEVY OUT MULTI MULTI MULTI BILLIONAIRE IN PREFERABLE A GUY WHO WOULD LOVE THE CHALLENGE OF FIGHTING IT OUT WITH THE BIG RED AT THE BRIDGE THE ARAB AT EITHAD THE YANKS AT MUNURE UTD COME ON DOWN BILL GATES AND SORT THE EPL OUT AND BACK TO THE ONE TIME GLORY GLORY DAYS .

  3. These sort of reports are ridiculous, we haven’t even got a manager yet and we are being linked with so many different players. Talk about jumping the gun

  4. We need a big powerful skillful striker, like Lukaku, Jackson Martinez, Dzeko or dare I say Damiao, who can boss the box. But most importantly we need a proper central creative mid who can find the striker from a central position. Eriksen is better in a free role, drifting from left wing to right wing in a 4231, with Lamela doing the same. Spurs still need the little guy (like modric who can hold the ball in the centre and panic teams with passes through to dangerous players (like Eriksen, Lamela, Soldado, Adebayor etc). Juan Fernando Quinterio would be the number one player we could buy this summer to make an impact next season, buying another striker to not get any of the ball would be crazy…buying Eto’o would be insane…he looked rubbish this season…

  5. LEVY WILL LOVE THIS IF NO FEE IS INVOLVED, WE SHOULD GET IN MICAH RICHARDS ASHLEY COLE LUKAKU BONY AND FUCK OFF DAWSON ROSE NAUGHTON LENNON ADEBAYOR SIGGY
