However much we speculate, new head coach Mauricio Pochettino will have his own ideas regarding transfer targets this summer but at the same time, there will be certain players in the ranks who he will be desperate to keep.

Earlier in the week, Jan Vertoghen said that he was happy to stay at the club no matter who came in as manager but there’s been no such clarification from Hugo Lloris and that has led to a host of rumours linking our keeper with a summer switch.

According to one source, a number of French clubs are monitoring the situation including the top two – Monaco and PSG. Both Madrid sides have also been linked and Atletico may well be in need of a new stopper with stories claiming Thibaut Courtois is ready to move back to parent club Chelsea.

Those reports go on to name Fraser Forster and David Marshall among the likely replacements but losing Lloris so early in his tenure would be a huge blow to the new coach. Hopefully he will be making discussions with the Frenchman a priority after this summer’s World Cup.

  1. You obviously didn’t notice two weeks ago Lloris stating that he has no intention of leaving Spurs as he is on a long contract and does not want to talk about it, all he was interested in right now is the World Cup with France. Many papers carried the article. I suspect that you like many others, read the tripe coming out of the Daily Star those well know Billy Liars. If Lloris pushes for a move, something that he hasn’t done to date, then and only then will the board act. He has stated time and again that he isn’t interested in moving to PSG or Monaco yet the hacks continue to throw up their names. Now it’s Barcelona, Athletico and Real Madrid, next week it will be Milan and Juve in the mix. Vertonghen also stated he has no intention of leaving Spurs, what’s the betting that in a couple of weeks time the Daily Star will fill column inches with him being off to Barcelona to replace Carlos Puyol yet again. All a load of boring bullshit because there is nothing of interest to write. The hacks have to earn their money somehow.
