ll through the week, the papers and websites have continued to link Chelsea’s Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku (pictured) with a move to White Hart Lane. We haven’t mentioned it as his name has been brought up on plenty of occasions since the end of the season but latest reported developments are worth commenting on.

It’s claimed in a number of areas today that Spurs are still tracking the Chelsea man but, as a contingency plan, the club is weighing up a move for Swansea centre forward Wilfried Bony. The Ivorian is another player who was widely linked to Tottenham before he eventually made the move to England and after a decent debut campaign in the Premiership, it’s no surprise that the rumours have started up again.

Bony found the net 25 times in 48 games in all competitions. An impressive record at any club but after Swansea’s problems in 2013-14, it’s hard not to wonder what he would have achieved with better service.

These stories claim that the asking price for Bony is likely to be in the region of £19m but looking at those respective records, it might be worth abandoning the Lukaku pursuit altogether.

  1. Absolutely abandon this nonsense over Lukookoo, over-priced and over-hyped. My feeling even before hearing the Bony rumours. Much better option.
