PSV Eindhoven winger Memphis Depay scored his second international goal in the Netherland’s 2-0 win over Chile last night and in doing so, the 20 year old probably put another £10m on his suggested transfer fee.

Depay had been linked with a move to either Tottenham or Manchester United almost as soon as his long range effort hit the back of the Australian net last week but is a move away from Holland really likely at this stage of his career?

According to the press, the winger is set to leave the Philips Stadium this summer but a more likely destination is Madrid with Real set to outbid both English clubs for the man dubbed as the new ‘Cristiano Ronaldo’.

This one had always seemed like a long shot but after yesterday’s goal, it is probably confined to the list of non starters. Depay only needed to tap the ball in from Arjen Robben’s cross but the pace and ground covered to get there was quite incredible.

A £17m transfer fee was quoted at the start of the week but this is set to rise as the tournament progresses. Do Spurs still have a sniff or should we start looking elsewhere?

  1. Think we have enough overseas players here that cant hack it in our league, so not too bothered about him not coming.

  2. We need a left footed winger… a natural left footer to give us the option of playing wide. Rather than drifting in and leaving no cover to the defence or left back… plus a new left back is desperatly needed. Lets hopenwe get what the team require and im sure it will play mich better football next season. Coys
