Amidst all the transfer gossip, yesterday’s news involving goalkeeper Jordan Archer was relegated to something of a footnote but it will be interesting to see how the young stopper develops this season at Northampton Town during his loan spell.

The Cobblers only just survived relegation into the conference at the end of the last campaign and it will certain be a testing time for the 21 year old, who remained fourth choice at Spurs after the departure of Heurelho Gomes and the arrival of Michel Vorm.

However, there is no guarantee that the player will have a chance to make much of an impact for his new club.

“Jordan is here to challenge for a first-team place,” said Northampton manager Chris Wilder.

“It is important to have competition, and Jordan is in the frame to battle with Matt Duke for a first-team spot.”

Hopefully Jordan will get more games in 2014-15 but at 21, it’s already looking unlikely that he will have much of a future at White Hart Lane.
