llorisThe festive Christmas calendar wasn’t the kindest for Spurs but after a battling point was secured against Manchester United at the weekend, the club will have greater confidence going into the Chelsea fixture on New Year’s Day.

Nacer Chadli was the man charged with spouting the usual platitudes on the official website and the Belgian claims he is confident that we can get a positive result.

“Manchester United was a difficult game,” Nacer said. “We showed patience and we had some chances but we have to be realistic also – United had the bigger chances in the first half and they played well.

“No games are easy but Newcastle beat Chelsea so why can’t we beat them?” he added. “We have to play our game and we’ll see how we go.”

But it’s the comments made by Hugo Lloris that give a greater insight into the team under Pochettino.

“We didn’t play a great game with great football, but we were still in the game because we were fighting a lot, so that’s very positive,” said Hugo.

“I think we are improving. Defensively, we are stronger than at the beginning of the season.

“We didn’t play great football but we showed a lot of character because we were fighting a lot and until the end we were believing that we could get the three points.

“I remember we had some bad games last season and we had the feeling that we gave up a bit.”

Is there a greater fighting spirit under Pochettino and will that make us less likely to crumble at the top three sides – as we did last season?

  1. Spurs MUST SELL – Soldado / Pauhino / Dembele / Lemela / Lennon / Townsend / Kuboul / Rose / Noughton / Assoto & receive funding for REAL players like; Morgan / Bony or Benteke / Javier / Hctor or Van Dijk / Winger? Now Mr Levi take action & stop moaning about new stadium cost!
