As expected Harry Kane was called up to the full England squad today. The decision by Roy Hodgson wasn’t a surprise yet wasn’t without controversy, with Kane tipped to move back down to the England U21 squad this summer for the European Championship.
Here’s how Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino reacted to the news at his press conference this afternoon.
Pochettino might be happy for Kane but Tottenham fans have mixed feelings. This is how the news played out on Twitter.
Huge honour to be called up to the England squad! Very proud day for me and my family! Thank you all for the kind messages! #England

Harry Kane gets #England call up http://t.co/oow2JDYkq9 – Just be careful with him Roy and don't break him! #COYS

Concerns over burn out, is not Roy's responsibility. If our club is concerned, we should manage it.

Brilliant news for Harry (& well deserved, of course), but can't for the life of me see why Hodgson couldn't let U21s have Kane until Sept.

Harry Kane has scored more goals this season than the other three forwards in the England squad combined. pic.twitter.com/jkNiccgJ3X

The same people who lobbied for Kane's senior inclusion will moan about the u21s' performance in the Summer.

I feel a really odd sense of pride seeing Harry Kane get called up for England. I know it's had absolutely nothing to do with me, but still.
