Over in Germany a player clapping the fans after the game is not deemed sufficient. Such as the closeness between players and support that the players will actually talk to the fans, despite being multi-millionaires.

That’s exactly what Spurs midfielder Lewis Holtby did after his loan side Hamburg’s 2-0 loss to Wolfsburg at the weekend and things got quite heated.

In a shouting match with an off-screen fan, Holtby claims, “I’m staying as well.” He then goes on to say, “Yes, I’ll stay.” One can only assume the Hamburg fan had asked if he’d stay even if the club were relegated.

Holtby has his critics but the one thing that no one can accuse him of is not caring and a lack of effort. As the video goes on he speaks with the same type of passion that we’re used to seeing from him on the pitch. Watch below.

  1. Know I might be in the minority but would seriously like to see Holtby back @ Spurs next season!
He has passion, desire & gives 100% unlike half our squad this season.
Quite why a lot of Sours fans write him off is beyond me.

  2. Love this guy hope he comes back to the lane, such an inspiring player who always gives it his all, can’t believe Paulinho dembele capoue and stambouli are above him in the Spurs pecking order, if I had my way I would play false 9 Kane as the lead holtby and Eriksen pair behind bentaleb as a holding mid and Townsend and a new winger like depay someone with pace and explosive capabilties out on the wings, rose and Yedlin/ walker for the overlapping fullbacks and alderwerield to partner vertonghen at the back, new style new players!
