Tottenham Hotspur lost 2-0 to Real Madrid in the opening match of the Audi Cup, with former Spurs forward Gareth Bale scoring the opponent’s second goal.
James Rodriguez opened the scoring in the first half, nodding home a Jese cross.
Tottenham played reasonably well, with Dele Alli arguably impressing most of all.
But Spurs failed to make their occasional dominance count before a pass by Nabil Bentaleb found its way to Bale, the Welshman beating Michel Vorm from distance.
Vorm probably should have done better, leading to few strong opinions from Tottenham fans on Twitter…
Vorm should have done better there.

Oh for fuck's sake! Is Lloris likely to be back for Saturday? #COYS

Jesus. Hugo's hand can't heal fast enough.

Nabil Bentaleb plays a hospital ball into the center almost identical to the one that nearly cost a goal against MLS. MLS didn't have Bale.

Same old!!!! Played some pretty decent football just defence/individual errors costing us goals still!!!! #COYS

#thfc 2-0 to Real. Loose pass from Bentaleb, Bale shoots from 25 yards and it bounces past Vorm.

#thfc Bounces *through* Vorm might be more accurate, he should have saved that.

Vorm’s had a decent game but should do better for both goals. Shows the difference between Hugo and Vorm. Well, Hugo and most keepers.

Don't recall too many mentions of poor goalkeeping when Gareth was smashing those in for us on the regular.

I just can't understand why any players have played the full 90. Seems a crazy decision so close to United. Needless. #THFC

Spurs have had swathes of possession without ever looking like scoring. Worrying. #AudiCup2015 #COYS
