Before the arrivals of Clinto Njie and Heung-Min Son, Spurs are rumoured to have had a bid accepted for Timo Werner by his club Stuttgart, only for the player to turn down the move.

At 19-years old and a firm fans favourite playing for his hometown club, no Tottenham fan could blame him in a summer when we praised Harry Kane for his loyalty. Having made his debut at 17, the youngster has already made 53 appearances for Stuttgart, scoring seven goals.

Yet the honeymoon could be over for the German U21 international, with the Stuttgart coach Alexander Zorniger choosing not to start Werner in a game this season and was left out of the match day squad for this weekend’s game – the first time this has happened since he made his debut.

Bild report that Stuttgart were actively trying to sell the player in the summer and that he has completely fallen out with Zorniger.

Clearly Werner’s future is up in the air, as is Zorniger’s considering that Stuttgart have lost all four of their games this season.

Considering the business that Spurs have done this summer, is Werner still a potential target for January? Werner is mainly used on the wing but it is thought that his future lies as a central striker, so he could provide an alternative to Harry Kane.

The quoted price this summer was said to be just £7.5m, which is not too much for a bright prospect, though as a young player he’s unlikely to provide instant results. Watch him in action below and let us know if you think he’s a player that Tottenham might still be interested in.

  1. I’d say go for it. Train him with spurs a year or 2 with a loan in between and use him for the future. I’m sure he’s gonna be the next new thing.
