Reports claim that Spurs and Newcastle have agreed a fee of £12m for Andros Townsend.
Townsend has struggled to get playing time at Tottenham this season and as a favourite of Roy Hodgson, needs a move to stake a claim for a place in the England squad for Euro 2016.
With Newcastle needing quality reinforcements as they battle against relegation, it seems like a move that suits all parties, as Spurs claim a sizeable fee for a homegrown talent. Here’s how Twitter reacted to the news.

No tears over Townsend. Doesn't assist, doesn't score, can't cross, can't shoot, runs/plays with his head down £12m!! #nufc #thfc

#NUFC hoping to have the Townsend & Berahino deals wrapped up before the derby this weekend. More as I get it.

So £12m in from Townsend and money sitting in the bank from the summer, pressure on Levy to get a big incoming deal over the line…#thfc

£12m for Townsend!!! Great business!!!! Seemed like a good guy but in my opinion not good enough for a top4 side #coys

I know Townsend committed the cardinal sin of having some shots in some football matches, but he's a far better player than most claim.

Seems to be a lot of negativity surrounding Townsend. Clearly a player with quality with an eye for a goal. Decent signing. #NUFC

We've out-grown the Townsend's, Livermore's, Caulker's of the world. It's very much Poch's squad & he knows who can & can't cut it.

Personally very pleased with Shelvey and Townsend coming in, but I'm also very worried that we don't seem to be looking at defence…#nufc

thought Andros townsend was a good exciting player, sorry see him go,, if there a job at thfc for townsend or tom carroll I would say” Andros attack that oppositions goal at full speed, tom are those hotdogs ready yet “
The master tacticians and opinionistas that berate Andros’s talent will soon regret their empty, ‘know it all’ attitude. The young man is a product of our team, loves Spurs and wanted to stay , but he has to make with the stubbornness of the main man. I respect Poch’s work and share his high ambitions and dreams , but I think he has got it wrong with this young player. I feel that the young man will shut up the sometimes vitriolic comments of some so-called Spurs supporters. I think he will make all of them eat their words. All the best young man!!!!!! I will be watching.
I’d much rather have kept Townsend and sold Lamela. Still don’t know what he brings to the team. Never takes on his defender, rarely shoots, a liability in the tackle and all for £30M. Give me Andros any day.
Good luck to A .Townsend at Newcastle I dont know the full story, But he was not playing
his best football in the end at spurs, a new team is his answer, I just hope he will not stand
out on the 15th of may, when we may need the points in our last game of the season.
