Reports in today’s press claim that Spurs are leading the race for two strikers.
The first as reported in today’s Mail, will come as no surprise. Moussa Dembele came close to signing in January and with the Fulham striker’s contract set to expire in the summer it’s been claimed that Tottenham remain favourites to sign him.
With the French U-20 international still only 19-years old, Fulham would receive a compensation fee for the striker who has scored 12 goals in 33 games this season.
Another forward who is running down his contract is the Belgian international Laurent Depoitre.
The Gent striker has 16 months remaining on his contract and The Mirror claims that Spurs were one of seven Premier League clubs to have scouted Depoitre over the last week.
A powerful player standing at 6ft 3″ tall, Depoitre helped Genk win the Belgian title last season with 14 goals and has scored 13 times this season.
With Depoitre rated at £12m, it seems that Tottenham are examining some relatively cheap options, having balked at the fee demanded for Saido Berahino last summer. Might the club be on the hunt for two rather than just one forward?
