Reports from Italy claim that Spurs have made an approach for the Fiorentina midfielder Milan Badelj.

The Croatian international is said to be unhappy at the Serie A giants, with his agent currently involved in a financial dispute with Fiorentina over an unpaid debt. It’s been reported that Badelj has told his agent that he wants to join Tottenham, despite interest from Valencia.

Badelj is a deep-lying midfielder who has won 17 caps for Croatia. The former Hamburg and Dynamo Zagreb star has been compared to Luka Modric in style and replaced the Real Madrid maestro in the Zagreb side when he moved to Spurs in 2008.

It’s Badelj’s 27th birthday tomorrow and he could mark it with an appearance at White Hart Lane as Fiorentina face Tottenham in the second-leg of their Europa League tie. Badelj came on as a second-half substitute in the 1-1 draw in Florence and Spurs fans could get a chance to watch him in the flesh on Thursday night.

For now, you can watch him in action below.
