Spurs have been linked with a move for Breel Embolo for some months, but those rumours have intensified in recent weeks.

Now the sporting director of Embolo’s club Basel, Georg Heitz has confirmed that the striker is likely to make a move this summer.

Heitz, was realistic about Basel’s chances of keeping hold of the Swiss international when questioned on the matter: “It’s very probable that he’ll leave this summer,

“He’s played for three seasons in our first team and he’s just 19-year-old. At some point we have to accept that we cannot change our league. The players love our club but realise they have to change their league at some point to develop.

“There are only two countries he could go to – England or Germany. I’d recommend him not to make too big a step. He’s intelligent enough to know he needs to go to a place where the coach gives him a chance.”

When you consider that there are few clubs as willing to give chances to young players as Tottenham and that not too much would be expected of the youngster if brought in to provide cover for Harry Kane, White Hart Lane could well end up being the perfect fit for Embolo if Spurs decide to make a move. Watch him in action below.
