Belgium’s golden generation got off to a poor start at Euro 2016 last night as they lost 2-0 to Italy.
The Belgians were extremely open in midfield, leaving many Spurs fans wondering why our own Mousa Dembele was twiddling his thumbs on the bench, while Manchester United misfit Marouane Fellaini was plodding around on the pitch.
Dembele has just had his best ever season at club level and surely must be given an opportunity for his country, who now face a battle to finish second in their group. Here’s how tottenham supporters reacted on Twitter.

Wilmots had a stinker. No dembele. Dries mertens and origi coming on? Hazard captain? Wilmots is a plank.
Dembele should be the first name on the team sheet. He is a “power house”, breaks up play, drives the team forward. I agree with Sam Hazard captain??Belgium manager needs to drop down and take charge of the youth teams.
I don’t get wilmots . why play vermalen over vertonghen at cb? why play felaini over Dembele? and the last straw for me was taking off lukaku and replacing him with origi. belgium like to play direct football utilising width. they put alot of crosses into the box. and he has benteke (probably the best striker in the air that they have) who is renowned for thriving on crosses and long balls. yet he doesn’t play him. origi is a good a player but he isn’t exactly a big guy who is good in the air. he missed 3 easy headers. bent eke probably would of scored at least 2 of those headers. really bad error in judgement by wilmots
