The wife of the Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi has claimed that Tottenham have been in touch regarding a transfer.
Under normal circumstances you might think that this is a pretty solid source, but Icardi’s wife Wanda Nara also doubles as his agent.
As we all know, agents’ claims about their players should always be seasoned with a pinch of salt, as often their motivation is to win their client a pay-rise at the current club, or to attract other teams to make a bid.
Nara said: “There are many offers, but I do not negotiate with other clubs. I only talk about Mauro’s contract, that’s my role, not doing negotiations.
“Atletico Madrid, Tottenham and Arsenal have made contact. Napoli and Roma are also interested now.”
‘Made contact’ is a very ambiguous term. There’s no reason to think that Spurs might not have enquired about Icardi’s availability and value, but with the purchase of Vincent Janssen it seems unlikely that the club are seriously interested in paying the sort of money needed to buy the Argentinian international.
And of course, she gets half!
