When Marcus Edwards was recently persuaded to pledge his immediate future to Spurs, it came with rumours that he had been guaranteed a first-team squad number and had been made promises regarding playing time.
He’s certainly been given the opportunity to prove himself to Mauricio Pochettino in pre-season. Edwards has been named in the squad that has travelled to Melbourne to face the likes of Juventus and Atletico Madrid and will go there full of confidence after his performance against Rotherham at Hotspur Way.
Edwards’ trickery, skill and determination were apparent as he created a goal for Shayon Harrison to make it 2-1, before confirming victory with a great finish from a tight angle to confirm a 3-1 victory.
If Edwards can continue this pre-season form, then he could find himself in Pochettino’s thoughts this season. Is he ready to take the step up to the big time? Watch him in action below and let us know your thoughts.
