Reports from Italy claim that Inter Milan are interested in signing Jan Vertonghen.
The new coach at Inter is Frank de Boer, who knows Vertonghen from their time together at Ajax. It’s thought that Inter could offer Marcelo Brozovic to tempt Spurs to part with the central defender.
Brozovic has been linked with Tottenham over the summer and the club still seem to be in the market for another midfielder. That said, it would be a big surprise if Mauricio Pochettino were willing to part with Vertonghen to land the Croatian.
Vertonghen formed a formidable partnership with his fellow Belgian Toby Alderweireld last season and returned to the first-team against Everton at the weekend, after a period of injury.
With Pochettino having gone on record in stating that the club are not in the market for a central defender this summer, it seems unlikely that Vertonghen would be let go. Kevin Wimmer has proved himself as an able deputy for Vertonghen, but Cameron Carter-Vickers is still only 18 and Eric Dier is now established as a midfielder.
