At just 21-years-old, Lopez has made 48 appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s former club Espanyol.
The Spaniard has represented his country at under-21 level and was called up to the senior squad earlier this year.
Although Lopez has only signed a loan deal, Spurs are reportedly keen on securing the player’s long term future. A permanent transfer could happen at the end of the season.
The arrival of Lopez gave goalkeeper Luke McGee the opportunity to leave the club. He and midfielder Nathan Oduwa have joined League One side Peterborough on loan.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Tottenham’s latest signing.
@SpursOfficial Might as well give us the league right now.

Lopez signing not glamorous but if he impresses, he could replace Vorm in 12 months time. Experienced number 3 useful.

#thfc Vorm said after Saturday's game that he doesn't expect Lopez's arrival to affect his position at the club.

Pau Lopez made the third most saves from outside of the box (40) in La Liga last season, so there is that

Profiles more as the next Joel Robles than the next David de Gea, I'd venture. But good to freshen up GK department https://t.co/6SGtt5S29U

96 – No goalkeeper 21 or younger made more saves than Pau López (96) in the big five European leagues last season. Depth.
