A man of the match performance from Victor Wanyama inspired a stunning 2-0 victory for Tottenham against Manchester City at White Hart Lane.
The midfielder shielded the back four with ease at times. He was strong in the tackle, composed on the ball and always found a teammate with his passes.
Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen were equally excellent at the back, while Heung-Min Son and Dele Alli inspired Spurs going forward.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Wanyama’s display and the team performance in general.
Victor Wanyama. £12m.

Rose, Alderweireld, Alli, Son, Walker, all good MOTM shouts but Wanyama was the one today. Excellent and selfless.

MOTM a fairly easy one today, Wanyama. But Alli, Son, Eriksen and the back four all contenders. That's almost everyone.

* 2nd in the league ?
* Unbeaten in the league ?
* Meanest defense in the league ?
* Outplayed Man City ?
* Son on fire ?#COYS— SourjyaC (@Spursy1882) October 2, 2016
Lamela will get more pelters than usual on here. It wasn't a great game for him. And a bad penalty miss. But TEAM have done what's needed.

Spurs 2 – 0 Man City. What a performance. Someone needs to make a YouTube compilation of Vertonghen and Alderweireld today. Masterclass.

I'm not going to moan at individuals because Spurs have just beaten the team announced as champions after 3 games. #COYS

Genuinely one of the best Spurs performances I've seen, considering quality of opposition. Sublime, from back to front. ??????????

City may have millions but you just can't buy the soul, passion and desire Tottenham's young team showed today. So proud #COYS
